TRAINING COURSES FOR VOLUNTEER WORKERS

“4-LEGGED FRIENDS”

Every year during the 3-month summer holidays we present training courses for volunteer workers between the ages of 12 and 17, who would like to learn more about animal wellbeing and pet care.  The objective of the course is to provide the youth with an opportunity to care for abandoned and/or mistreated cats and dogs always under the strict supervision of the SPCA’s staff. The contents of the course include an explanation of volunteer work as an exercise in citizenship, all aspects of hygiene, health and animal well being. Activities during the work period include cleaning of the shelters, feeding, exercising and some clinical assistance of the cats and dogs in our care.

FIELD TRIPS AND CONFERENCES – SCHOOLS OF THE AUTONOMOUS REGION OF MADEIRA

In accordance with the Agreement signed with the Regional Office of Education, we receive field trips from all the schools and hold conferences on animal protection at the various schools
